I had to work on my home project this week. We had to do a self-portrait using the same paper, same medium, and same mark as our Great Masters drawing. I personally enjoyed this project sooo much more than the Great Master because I got to decide where to put everything. I hated copying a piece mostly because I am such a perfectionist and I wanted my piece to look exactly like Pietro Faccini's. Also, when I started my Great Masters drawing, I didn't quite figure out the mark, which is very loose. I love a good loose mark and when I started my first piece, I did too much blending and my understanding was a little skewed. When doing my self portrait, I had a picture of myself to refer to, not a drawing to compare my drawing to. I don't love the way my self portrait came out because I don't think I got a great likeness or captured the expression I was going for, but I enjoyed to the self-portrait so much more.
I am an art student at Maggie Walker and this is the place where I talk about what we're making and what we're learning... Through this I can pour out my heart about my artistic experience.
